Northern Warren Trailblazers Complete Major Fall Trail Work Ahead of Upcoming Snowmobile Season
CHESTERTOWN, N.Y. — With winter rapidly approaching, the Northern Warren Trailblazers Snowmobile Club has wrapped up an intensive round of fall trail maintenance aimed at ensuring safe, smooth, and enjoyable riding throughout the 2025–2026 season.
Over the past several weekends, volunteers from across the region gathered to clear brush, repair washouts, rebuild signage, and prepare bridge structures throughout the club’s trail network. The work included trimming overgrown corridors, removing downed trees from storm activity, reshaping problem areas where erosion occurred, and reinforcing several high-traffic sections that required additional grading.
“This kind of work doesn’t just happen on its own—our volunteers put in countless hours to make sure riders have the best possible experience once the snow hits,” the club said in a statement. “The Adirondack terrain is beautiful, but it’s also unforgiving. Without this annual push, many of our trails would be unsafe or impassable.”
Among this year’s highlights:
-
Bridge and culvert inspections across multiple trail segments, with repairs made to decking and bridge foundations.
-
Signage updates, including new safety markers and directional signs.
-
Major brush back operations on corridors that had narrowed significantly over the summer.
-
Mud remediation, adding wood chips and drainage improvements in several problem zones.
-
Cleanup of storm debris from heavy weather events earlier in the fall.
The Trailblazers also thanked local landowners, some of whom personally assisted during the work days or provided equipment access. “Our partnership with landowners is the backbone of this club,” members noted. “Without their cooperation and generosity, there would be no trail system.”
The club encourages riders to purchase or renew their memberships early, as dues directly support grooming, maintenance materials, fuel, and equipment repairs.
“With some of the trail network now prepped and ready, all we need is snow in those areas - other areas still need a lot of work,” the club said. “We’re excited for another safe and successful season in the Adirondacks.”
